Abstract

The totally symmetric ν1, B-type band, of NO2 at 1319.794cm−1 has been studied with high resolution. This very weak vibration-rotation band exhibits very strong intensity anomalies, even stronger than those previously observed in 2ν1 and 2ν3. The P side is completely missing. The R side of the band has been clearly observed only for values of K > 3. The RPK series are the strongest; the RQK series and the RRK series which are normally stronger than the RPK series are much weaker. Spin splitting is large. The spectroscopic constants will be reported.
