Abstract

A number of previously unreported infrared bands of $CH_{3}D$ have been observed with high resolution and have been analyzed to obtain the spectroscopic constants. The previously reported bands of $CH_{3}D$ at $2780 cm^{-1}$ and $3016 cm^{-1}$ have also been observed with better resolution than heretofore. A short discussion of the features of some of these bands will be presented. As examples of these features, it has been observed that the l-type doubling q's for the two degenerate bending modes $\nu_{5}$ and $\nu_{6}$ are of opposite sign, and the parallel component of the combination of these two modes is affected by vibrational l-type $resonance^{1,2}$.
