Abstract

Recently Rao and Palik1 have resolved the ν11(E) of allene at 28 μ and found that the average separation of the Q branches of this band which represents essentially 2[Av(1−ζv)−Bv]v−11 is 1.2 cm−1. Using this result, a re-evaluation has been made of the ζ-factors and the constant A for allene. The following values have been obtained: {A} = 5.07 {cm}^{-1};\qquad \zeta_{8} = 0.05;\qquad \zeta_{11} = 0.82\mbox{ and } \zeta_{9} + \zeta_{10} = 0.16 A discussion will be given of some recently obtained high resolution spectra of the various perpendicular bands of allene.
