Abstract

We have measured the A-X visible system of the H2O+ and D2O+ using a ring dye laser and velocity-modulation spectroscopy. All previous experimental studies of this system have been in emission. Our results1 in H2O+ have much better measurement of intensities than previous work2. The best previous work in the visible on D2O+ was obtained by Lew and Groleau3, using emission spectroscopy of a discharge with a grating monochromator. They reported fragmentary results in the V2=10←0 band. Our new results in D2O+ are more extensive than previous work in this band, and disagrees with previous work by many standard deviations.
