Knowledge Bank

ESR spectra of LiCr and NaCr trapped in argon matrices at $4\circ K$ were observed centered around $g=2$. The five fine-structure transitions of a $\mathrm{<mrow\; data-mjx-texclass="ORD">6</mrow>}\Sigma$ molecule were observed in each case but with no alkali-metal hyperfine structure. The zero-field-splitting parameter $|D|$ was 0.065 and $0.050cm-1$ in the lithium and sodium molecules respectively. Comparison with the HCr $molecule1$ will be made. Attempts to observe the corresponding LiMn and NaMn molecules were without success.
