Abstract

Infrared and Raman spectra were obtained for dichloro- and difluoro-malononitrile. Assignments of fundamental vibrational frequencies, and normal coordinate analyses are reported. Correlation between the substituents on the carbon atom adjacent to the cyano group and the C≡N stretching frequency will be discussed.
