Abstract

Spectra of $CO_{2}$ in the 15 micron region have been obtained at reduced temperatures by using a cell cooled to $190^{\circ}K$ and $150^{\circ}K$ with liquid nitrogen. The intensities of the bands characterizing transitions from lower states which are excited states are greatly reduced. The dependence of the total absorptance on the temperature is discussed. This work has been supported in part by the Air Force Cambridge Research Laboratories, Office of Aerospace Research, under a contract with North Carolina State University.
