Abstract
Small concentrations of the transient species $CF_{2}$ are present in the discharge products of $CF_{4}$. Because of the relatively large rotational constants of $CF_{2}$, most of the transitions which are necessary for a rotation-distortion analysis of this asymmetric rotor fall in the millimeter-wave or shorter region of the microwave spectrum. We have used the results of our measurements, in combination with the longer wavelength measurements of Powell and Lide, to calculate Watson’s reduced spectral constants and to predict a comprehensive millimeter wave spectrum.
