Abstract

A variety of metal clusters and other refractory molecules have been studied by laser induced fluorescence. The material to be studied vaporized by a pulsed YAG laser. The resulting plume is diluted by a flowing inert gas stream cooled by liquid $N_{2}$, and the cluster molecules formed are interrogated few cm down stream by suitably delayed pulses of a tunable dye laser. The laser induced fluorescence studies provide useful new information about the spectra and dynamics of a variety of molecular clusters, including $Pb_{2}, Bi_{2}, Cu_{2}$ and other species.
