Abstract

A sample of CO2 was synthesized from water containing 10%H2O18, and the infrared spectrum was studied on a vacuum grating spectrometer. The region from 5200 to 1850cm−1 was covered using PbS and PbTe photoconductive detectors and spectral slit widths from 0.2 to 0.3cm−1. Various bands of O18-substituted species of CO2 were observed, including the Fermi-resonant triad (200,12,04 of C12O16O18 forbidden to the symmetric species. These and other results will be discussed.
