Abstract
For my STEP Signature Project, I participated in an internship experience at General Electric: Aviation. On May 13th, I moved from Youngstown, Ohio to Xavier University’s Summer Intern Housing in Cincinnati, Ohio in order to settle into my new living space before starting at General Electric: Aviation. I assumed the role as a Digital Technology Intern on May 22nd, 2019. My internship at General Electric was ten weeks long and ended on July 26th, 2019.
I was a Digital Technology Intern at General Electric: Aviation in Cincinnati, Ohio in the summer of 2018. After completing the internship, I was offered the opportunity to return for the summer of 2019. Last Summer, I was a member of the full-stack development team within the Digital Technology division of General Electric: Aviation. I returned to the same Digital Technology division, but I was a part of a new team with expanded responsibilities.
I was integrated with full-time staff and contractors with oversight from the intern director as well as a team manager. Throughout the summer, I learned new technological competencies as well as developed professionally. As a returning intern, I was tasked with leading the incoming interns in professional development as well as networking. Due to my expanded responsibilities and new experiences on the horizon, my internship was truly a transformative experience.
