Abstract

The infrared and Raman spectra of fluorocyclopentane in the wavenumber range 1300 to $30 cm^{-1}$ and the skeletal vibrational frequencies are reported. The far-infrared spectrum is discussed in terms of a hindered pseudorotator. On the basis of the results, it was concluded that the inversion potential of this ring may well be single minimum in sharp contrast to the other cyclopentyl halides.
