Reichsführer SS 1929. 1933: Heads Munich police; Dachau established; Gestapo. 1936: Chief of all German police. 1939: Reichsminisister [sic] for strengthening of Germanism. 1940: Waffen SS Combat Units. At peak, 38 divisions 910,000 men. At war's end he fled, disguised himself with an eyepatch and false I.D., [and] was captured by the British. He cheated the hangman by swallowing cyanide." Swastikas are substituted for certain punctuation. A first-state impression [CMA 2001.034.432] has appliqué over the words "Heinrich" and "False I.D." indicating alterations to the original text.
