Abstract
This paper examines issues related to the provision of financial services to microenterprises in developing countries. It claims that many programs lack essential components of a genuine credit activity. It discusses the importance of credit in microenterprise development and the features of alternative methodologies for disbursing loans, discussed in the Aid Microenterprise Stock-Taking. It emphasizes the importance of financial viability for institutional survival.
