VERIFICATION OF $A_{0}$ FOR ETHANE: REANALYSIS OF THE $\nu_{10}(E_{g})$ RAMAN $BAND^{*}$

Abstract
The value of $A_{0}=2.671$ $cm^{-1}$ obtained form the $analysis^{1}$ of the $\nu_{10}(E_{g})$ band of $C_{2}H_{6}$ near $2969 cm^{-1}$ has been verified. The $\nu_{10}$ (C-H stretch) band was recorded with the University of Tennessee high resolution Raman spectrometer. Both polarized and depolarized spectra were taken. The elimination of the strongly polarized totally symmetric band overlapping $\nu_{10} (\nu_{1}, 2\nu_{8}, 2\nu_{11})$ revealed the entire band contour for the first time. Band contour analysis of the complete band verified the value of $A_{0}$.
