Abstract

The $\nu_{2} + \nu_{5}$ combination band of methyl bromide has been recorded under high resolution using the UTMSL five-meter Littrow instrument. With the sample at 15 Torr in a 40 meter path, good absorption has been attained with minimal pressure-broadening to resolve the $^{79}Br$$^{81}Br$ isotopic splitting in all regions of the spectra. Strong Coriolis-type perturbations are evident in this band, and interactions with 2$\nu_{5}$, 2$\nu_{2}$ and $others^{1}$ are being considered in collaboration with G. Graner, Laboratoire d’Infrarouge at Orsay, The resolution in the Q-regions of the spectra provides data for deriving ground state parameters from combination differences.
