Abstract

The $a {^{3}}\Sigma_{g}^{+}- c {^{3}}\Pi_{u}, \Delta v = 1$ sequence bands of the spectra of $H_{2}$ around $4 \mu m$ was observed in emission by Dabrowski and Herzberg. We observed the same system in absorption through a modulated d.c. discharge in $H_{2} (\sim 500 mTorr)$ with much higher resolution (Doppler limited). The fine structure due to spin-orbit and spin-spin interactions was fully resolved, and these fine structure constants were determined.
