Abstract
Fourier Transform Spectroscopy is, in the IR, visible and near UV regions, a well-established technique for observing high resolution absorption and emission spectra with quantitative intensities. To our knowledge, only one FTS exists at the Imperial College, London for operation in the VUV region. The design of that high-resolution VUV instrument has been discussed by Thorne $et al.^{1}$, and its performance has been demonstrated by atomic line emission spectra showing a resolution of $0.03 cm^{-1}$ near $42650 cm^{-1}$. We present the results of the Fourth Positive bands of CO in the resolution of $0.08 cm^{-1}$ in the wavelength region 177-215 The observed linewidths are around $0.15 cm^{-1}$ which is slightly larger than the Doppler widths $0.12 cm^{-1}$ at 300 k.
