Abstract
In order to compare the geochemistry of eruptive material from Hekla and Hengill, data was compiled from a number of publications. Data was subcategorized by the type of eruptive material, and everything was plotted with regards to MgO. Another set of graphs was made with only glass data and then fit with a linear trend line. The trend was only fit to the glass data because the glass data had the least amount of scatter. The trend was used to compare the rates of change of different elements at each volcano. While most rates were comparable, the Al2O3 and MnO rates at Hekla were more than double those at Hengill. Though scatter is present throughout the data and Hekla has relatively few data points comparable to Hengill, the data presented provides a solid base for future geochemical comparisons of Hekla and Hengill.
