Abstract

The ν2 band of 14N16O2 near 13.3μ has been measured under high resolution using a liquid helium cooled Ge:Cu detector and a vacuum infrared spectrograph equipped with a 40 grooves/mm grating. Over 700 transitions were identified representing eighty-percent of the observed rotational structure. Analysis of the band, combined with previous work at shorter wavelengths, led to modified molecular constants. The new constants reproduced 272 non-zero-weighted transitions and 446 ground state combination differences with a standard deviation of about 0.010 cm−1. The large spin-rotation line splittings which were observed were described satisfactorily using existing formulations.
