From May 27 to June 27, 2019, I will be studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain to earn credit towards my double-major in Spanish. The Session 3 study abroad trip will allow me to earn six credit hours towards my Iberian studies track. While studying abroad, I will be staying with a host family near the university. Aside from academics, studying abroad will enhance my fluency in written, spoken, and auditory Spanish. While in Barcelona, I will have the opportunity to explore various museums, plazas, and festivals. I will be immersed in the daily life of peer in Spain. In this month, I hope to explore various aspects of the culture including traditional foods, typical clothing, social media used, and social life. I intend to maximize my time and experiences in Barcelona by touring the city, making friends to stay in touch with after my trip, and exercising my Spanish daily. Since I have been studying Spanish for about seven years in high school and at Ohio State, becoming fluent has been very important to me. Through the Office of International Affairs, I will be able to further my Spanish education to better assist me in finding jobs, volunteering, completing my Spanish degree, and personal hobbies. After my study abroad, I hope to be able to share my experiences to encourage other students to study abroad to work towards becoming a more globalized citizen.
