Abstract
Lifetime measurements have been made for the individual rotational levels of $\nu^{\prime} = 0 $ and $\nu^{\prime} = 1$ for the $NH A^{3}\Pi $ and $c^{1}\Pi$ $states.^{1}$ In order to understand the origins of these predissociations, we have computed the Franck-Condon overlaps of the bound-bound interactions, namely $A^{3}\Pi$ with the ground state $X^{3}\Sigma^{-}$ and the bound-repulsive interactions. i.e., $A^{3}\Pi$ with $^{5}\Sigma^{-}$ state which arises from the ground state asymptote. It is found that the latter results in rapid variation of the overlaps as a function of the rotational quantum number. The theoretical matrix-element calculations are in progress and the comparison between the theoretical predissociation widths with the experimental data will be discussed.
