Abstract
My research is intended to further understand the prolonged issue of food security in the neighborhood of Franklinton and create an interior design solution to help address the problem at hand. With a lack of access to good quality food, my research will help to influence my design decisions to create an interior environment for residents to have access to healthy and affordable food options. In this regard, my proposal aims to improve the physical and mental health of Franklinton Residents. I have researched further the harmful effects that food insecurity has on an individual's health and how to create an interior space to help combat these issues. The space I am proposing to construct will allow for fresh produce to be grown not only on-site, but also year-round and indoors, through the use of aeroponic urban farming technologies. After further research, I have obtained a better understanding of the underlying issues of food security and how to better propose an interior design solution to help alleviate these problems.
