Abstract

The vibrational overtone spectra of gaseous CO2 and N2O were obtained by laser photoacoustic method between 700 and 800 nm. The transitions include (0,20,5)−(0.00.0).(1,00,5)−(0,00,0) for CO21 and (6,20,2)−(0,00,0),(0.11,6)−(0.11.0).(0,00,0)(0,00,0) for N2O2. The (1,00,5)−(0,00,0) transition of CO2 and the (0,00,6)−(0,00,0) transition of N2O have well-defined structures and show no significant perturbation. By comparing the integrated band intensities of water in the same spectral range to that of CO2 (or N2O) and from the knowledge of absorption intensities of water, the absolute absorption intensities were determined.
