Abstract

Recently developed magnetic circularly polarized emission (MCPE) experiments give information about relaxed excited states and ground state vibrational levels that cannot be obtained from the more well-known magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) experiments. Furthermore, the orientation dependent of Zeeman effects in $U^{\prime}$ octahedral states give rise to orientation dependent MCD and MCPE spectra. In $Cs_{2}GeF_{6}:Mn^{4+}$ our high resolution MCD and MCPE spectra along the 111 and 100 directions give information about the various vibrational levels in the $^{4}A_{2{g}}$ and $^{2}E_{g}$ states.
