Abstract
Visualization of the complete set of possible dipole moment derivatives for ethylene, by the method described by Person and $Crawford^{1}$, permits us to determine the quality of our knowledge of these parameters. In particular, it is possible to discuss the apparent discrepancy between the calculated values of these derivatives using CNDO approximate $wavefunctions^{2}$ and the experimentally determined $values^{3}$, $recalculated^{4}$ with a corrected set of normal $coordinates.^{5}$ Another application of this procedure is made to the results for $F_{2}CO$, in order to illustrate its general utility. We are grateful to the National Science Foundation (Grant No. GP-17818) for support of this work.
