Abstract

Study of rotational isomerism in gaseous l-bromopropane by microwave spectroscopy has resulted in the identification of the spectrum of the trans form, in which the heavy atom skelcton is planar. The trans spectrum consists of the parallel transitions of a very slightly asymmetric prolate top. The observed rotational constants are, for the $^{79}$Br species, $B =1641.3, C = 1586.8$; for $^{81}Br, B = 1629.4, C = 1575.7$ Mc. $sec.^{-1}$ The spectrum of the gauche isomer will also be discussed.
