Abstract

A new high resolution far infrared interferometer is now operational in our laboratory. It is designed for quantitative measurements of gas spectra in either symmetric or asymmetric mode. The movable mirror is driven by a 20 cm comparator screw. Provision is made for later installation of an interferometric control system permitting operation at higher frequencies. The use of cat's eye retroreflectors in each arm greatly facilitates alignment and permits interferometric modulation by oscillating the secondary mirror. Examples of the resolution and quantitative accuracy will be shown.
