Abstract
Infrared matrix spectra produced with Knudsen cell temperatures of 300 to 600 K of 1,2 difluoroethane at LHe temperature are presented. Discussion of the spectra obtained reveals that both the trans and gauche isomers are present. Concentration of the trans conformer is higher at the Higher Knudsen cell temperature. Difference of enthalpy $\Delta$H(t - g) is estimated from band intensities to 600 cal/mol. The trans-gauche isomer ratio in the matrix is found to correspond to the Knudsen cell temperature. Possible implication of this phenomenon will be discussed.
