Abstract

The late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries were extremely important years for the American Jewish community, as large numbers of Eastern European Jews migrated westward. At the same time, the American sports scene underwent its own radical upheaval, with technological innovations granting athletic activity unprecedented accessibility in the realm of American pop culture. The intersection between American Jewish life and American sports during these crucial decades provided a platform for American Jews to take stances on American acculturation, antisemitism, and gender dynamics.
