Abstract
Denise Deschenes describes her academic career at OSU, from earning a master’s degree in Zoology, to going to medical school, to working in her current position as psychiatrist in the Counseling and Consultation Service at the Younkin Success Center. Deschenes also describes her upbringing in New Hampshire, getting into and getting through medical school and her work at the counseling center. She also discusses the environment for women graduate students on campus, particularly in medical school, during the time period she was a graduate student. She also describes the environment for gay students at OSU during that time period. Finally, she talks about highlights of her career at OSU, including several awards, such as the Dick Maxwell Award for advocating for students with disabilities.
