Abstract

An improved furnace system for use in vacuum ultraviolet studies of atomic and molecular species stable at high temperatures (800 - $2500^{\circ}$ C) will be described. Spectra of Si, Sill, Ca, CaH, and the identification of some of these species in the solar spectrum will be discussed.
