Abstract

Ten spectra of the 600 to $800 cm^{-1}$ region of pure $CO_{2}$ were recorded at $0.006 cm^{-1}$ resolution using the Solar McMath FTS at Kitt Peak National Observatory. From these data, line intensities and self-broadened line widths were measured in the P and R branches of the $\nu_{1}- \nu_{2}$ band. The primary purpose of this investigation was to compare intensity measurements using the McMath FTS to the NRCC Bomem FTS measurements reported by Johns and Auwera [J. Mol. Spec. 140, 71, 1990]. Our intensity measurements extended to R(55) to determine the Herman-Wallis parameter accurately. The total band intensity determined from our data agrees with that of Johns and Auwera within our experimental uncertainties of 2\%. However, our self-broadening parameters are somewhat lower, being in general agreement with the Q-branch measurements of Huet, et al. [J. Mol. Spec. 128, 206, 1988].
