Abstract

Cross Cultural Solutions' volunteer abroad program in Ghana focuses on 2 main impact areas of child education and child health. To focus on child education, volunteers usually work in elementary schools that lack the proper resources and quantity of teachers to function at their best. CCS provides volunteers to these schools who can help to implement the curriculum and teach kids English. CCS also acts to address health and hygiene needs by sending volunteers to help in health clinics and giving check-ups to children and mothers in need of them. CCS also has a Dental Hygiene Program that volunteers can participate in by distributing toothbrushes and other dental products as well as giving dental check-ups to kids in need of them. As a volunteer in Ghana, I will be in the country for 2 weeks from May 18th - June 1st, 2019. For my first week there I will be working with kids in schools and teaching them English, and for the next week there I will be participating in the Dental Hygiene Program that CCS has.
