Abstract

The problem of the dependence of the intensity distribution of vibronically induced structure on isotopic substitution is considered. Results of recent studies on the vibration dynamics of naphthalene and certain of its deuterated isotopes are reported. These results are used to calculate the $b_{3g}$ vibronic structure in the 3200 {\AA} transition of perdeuteronaphthalene from the experimental spectrum of naphthalene. The differences between the calculated and experimental spectra will be discussed.
