Abstract

A sample of CHD2F has been synthesized, in isotopic purity above 95%. The four fundamentals ν4,ν5,ν6andν9 all occur in the general region of CO2 laser lines. Optical pumping of this substance results in FIR laser action on a number of lines; some of the strongest ones are associated with absorption of the CO2 pumping lines by the ν6 band. Assignments of the FIR emission lines will be discussed, along with progress on the analysis of the band. We show that one of the weak FIR lines from pumping CD3F2 is actually due to a small amount of CHD2F present as an isotopic impurity. Further, some OODP signals from a sample of CD3F3 are also shown to be due to CHD2F. 1. M. S. Tobin, private communication and to be published. 2.
