Abstract

“Optical maser action has boon sought for several rare-earth chelates in liquid solutions and in rigid glasses between room temperature and 77K. Experiments are carried out using a high-intensity, 10.000 joule flash apparatus employing a resonant cavity with confocal, multiple lager dielectric mirrors. Several chelates of europium, with emission, at about 6100{\AA}, and of terbium with emission in the 5450a{\AA} region, have been investigated for laser action. Results suggestive of stimulated emission have been obtained for a 10−3 Molar solution of europium tris benzoylacetonate in a mixture of isopentane and butanol at about 100K.”
