Abstract

Emission of the a3Σ+(u)(a11(u))−X1Σ+(g)(XO+(g)) transitions of Sb2,BiN,BiP,BiAs,BiSb,andBi2 has been observed in the near-infrared spectral region between 3800 and 11000cm−1 from chemical reactions in fast flow systems. The spectra consisting of short sequences of red-degraded bands were measured at medium and high resolution with a Fourier-transform spectrometer. Vibrational analyses have yielded the following molecular constants of the X0+(g) and a11(u) states of the molecules (in cm−1); [FIGURE] Other new emission systems of BiN have been assigned to the transitions b5Σ+(b10+)−X1Σ+(XO+) and b5Σ+(b10+)−a3Σ+(a11). The spectra of BiN, BiP, BiAs and Bi2 have been measured at high resolution and accurate molecular constants of the states have been deduced.
