Abstract

Several vibration-rotation absorption bands of allene $(C_{3}H_{4})$ and $allene-d_{4} (C_{3}D_{4})$ have been measured with high resolution. From measurements of a parallel and a perpendicular band of $C_{3}H_{4}$ the following constants were obtained: $B_{0} = 0.2963_{2} \pm 0.00004 cm^{-1}, D_{J} = 11_{.6} \pm 1.6\times 10^{-8} cm^{-1}$ and $D_{JK} = 4_{.6} \pm 1.2\times 10^{-5} cm^{-1}$. The best measurements on $C_{3}D_{4}$ were for a parallel band at $2790.25 cm^{-1}$ for which the values $B_{0} = 0.2320_{9} \pm 0.00005 cm^{-1}$ and $D_{J} = 4_{.1} \pm 1.3\times 10^{-8} cm^{-1}$ were obtained. Several perturbations of the levels of $C_{3}D_{4}$ will be described and discussed.
