Abstract

We have obtained the infrared spectrum of the HDTe in the 2.5 micron region with a resolution limit of $0.03 cm^{-1}$. Over 900 transitions have been identified and used to determine the molecular constants both from combination differences and from line fits, first using the data for each isotope separately and then fitting all the data for all isotopes of Tellurium simultaneously. In the latter case we allowed a quadratic dependence of $\nu_{0}$ on mass, a linear dependence for A, B, C, $A^{\prime}$, $B^{\prime}$, and $C^{\prime}$, and treated $T_{1}^{\prime}$ . . . $T_{5}$ as independent of mass. A very good fit ($0.005 cm^{-1}$) was obtained without any $h’s$, but the highest J, high K lines show systematic errors. A slightly better fit was obtained with H terms, but the $H’s$ are not statistically significant. This research was supported by the National Science Foundation. Present address of N. K.
