Abstract

The absorption spectrum of the $D_{2}$ molecule has been investigated with a 6.5 m vacuum spectrograph in the second order in the 700-840 \AA region. Rydberg bands corresponding to the transitions, $np$ and $np$, were analyzed. The ionization energies of the $D_{2}$ molecule obtained from the R(O) series of the $np\sigma$ $^{1}\Sigma^{+}_{u}\rightarrow{X}^{1}\Sigma^{+}_{g}$, systems are 124 746.6 $\pm$ $cm^{-1}$, 126 324.5 $\pm$ $0.6 cm^{-1}$ and 127 826.2 $\pm$ $0.6 cm^{-1}$ for v = 0,1, and 2, respectively.
