Abstract
A high-performance photoelectric recording Raman spectrometer has been developed featuring simplicity and ease of operation. A compact instrument assembled from commercially available components, it utilizes a Toronto-type helical mercury are exciting source, a grating monochromator employing a 45,000-line-per-inch diffraction grating and a selected 1 P21 photomultiplier detector operated at room temperature. While its wide frequency range, high resolution, stability, and sensitivity make it useful as a fundamental research instrument, its simple operation and fast scanning speed, allowing high performance spectra to be obtained in a short period of time, make the instrument well suited to routine analytical work.
