Abstract

A watermark discovered in the papers of the Lancaster Lateral Canal Co. documents the existence of the Good Hope paper mill (Joseph A. Greene & Co.), earlier operated by Rudolph and Abraham Pitcher, near the mouth of Clear Creek, Hocking Co., Ohio. The mill appears to have been last operated by Jacob Greene around 1846.
