Abstract

While studying spontaneous radiative decays of molecular electronic energy levels via pulsed r-f discharges, we had occasion to record the excitation portion of the pulse. In many cases, the expected excitation curves were obtained; however, for some band systems, interesting and unexpected behavior was recorded. Examples and comparisons from the band systems of $N_{2}$, SiF, and $CO_{2}$ will be discussed.
