In a discharge flow of molecular oxygen, a new ESR spectrum has been detected at room temperature. Under normal operating conditions, the spectrum is much weaker than that due to gas phase O-atoms in the $\mathrm{<mrow\; data-mjx-texclass="ORD">3</mrow>}P2$ state. The spectrum is anisoptropic. Its close resemblance to the gas phase atom spectrum allows the positive identification of an atomic species weakly bound to the glass surface of the enclosure.
