Abstract

A computer controlled diode laser system has been designed and built which is capable of measuring relative intensities of absorption lines to a high degree of precision in a number of light atmospheric trace gases. Measurements of the relative $^{13}C/^{

Description

12}C$ ratios in a series of $CO_{2}$ sample will be presented. It will be shown that a relative accuracy of 0.1 percent can be obtained with a sample size of about 500 picograms of $^{13}CO_{2}$. The ratio of $^{18}O/^{16}O$ was measured at the same time with comparable accuracy. A discussion of the experimental design and measurement capabilities will be given.
