Abstract

The Born-Oppenheimer Nuclear Equation with the Frost-Musulin potential is investigated in the limit of small and large internuclear distances. The wave functions are special confluent hypergeometric functions, viz., Bateman and Bessel functions, respectively. The energy levels of a molecule with a small internuclear distance are shown to be those of a perturbed united atom.
