Abstract

The electronic absorption spectra of dimethylselenide and dimethyltelluride have been measured in the vapor phase between 3000 and 1200 \AA. The absorptions assigned to the non-bonding electrons in each case will be given principal consideration. Discussion of these bands and the spectrally determined ionization potentials will be given in light of the reported spectra of $dimethylether^{1,2}$ and $dimethylsulfide.^{3}$
