Abstract

The electronic absorption spectra of dimethylselenide and dimethyltelluride have been measured in the vapor phase between 3000 and 1200 \AA. The absorptions assigned to the non-bonding electrons in each case will be given principal consideration. Discussion of these bands and the spectrally determined ionization potentials will be given in light of the reported spectra of dimethylether1,2 and dimethylsulfide.3
