Abstract

Electric Raman scattering and Infrared absorption spectra are reported for the 4000cm−1A1g and T1g states of OsF6 in dilute mixed crystals at 77 and 1.8K. Spectra at the two temperatures are quite different due to ground state structure arising from the split Eg(0cm−1) and T2g(40cm−1) states. These data will be discussed in terms of vibronic coupling interactions characterized for other hexafluorides and the crystal field potential.
