Abstract

The microwave spectra of the HSO and DSO radicals have been observed in glow discharges in a mixture of hydrogen sulfide or deuterium sulfide and molecular oxygen. Transitions in the 70 GHz to 160 GHz region were measured by mini-computer-controlled source-modulation spectrometer. Rotational, centrifugal distortion and spin-rotation constants obtained in the present investigation are in good agreement with those from dye laser excitation $spectroscopy^{1}$. The magnetic hyperfine coupling constants of the hydrogen nucleus have been determined. The hyperfine coupling constants obtained are consistent with a conclusion that the ground electronic state of this molecule is $^{2}A”$.
